Rezūm Water Vapour Therapy

Safe. Effective. Durable

What Is Rezūm Water Vapour Therapy

Rezūm Water Vapour Therapy is a minimally invasive treatment option for patients suffering from benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), a common condition that affects many men as they age and occurs when the prostate gland becomes enlarged.

How Does This Work?

During the Rezūm Water Vapour Therapy procedure for BPH, the urologist inserts a catheter through the patient’s urethra to access the enlarged prostate. In order to ensure accurate placement of the Rezūm Water Vapour Therapy catheter, a cystoscope is typically used prior to insertion. The cystoscope is advanced through the patient’s urethra, allowing the healthcare provider to visualise the pathway of the catheter and guide it to the targeted location for optimal treatment results.

Intermittent 9-second treatments are performed, the number of treatments are determined by your urologist and depend on the size of your prostate. During each treatment, sterile water vapour is released with all its stored energy, targeting and treating the excess prostate tissue. The treated tissue then shrinks and is reabsorbed by the body, providing relief from BPH symptoms. Compared to other invasive treatments,

The procedure takes less than half an hour to complete and is performed under local anaesthesia. Over time, your body’s natural healing response removes the dead cells, shrinking the prostate. With the extra tissue removed, the urethra opens, reducing BPH symptoms.
