Johannes Pieterse

Dear Management and Staff of Urology Hospital Pretoria,

I would like to express my sincere gratitude and appreciation for the outstanding service and professional experience I had during my procedure yesterday.

From the moment we arrived at the parking security at 05:50, the friendliness and professionalism were remarkable. We were courteously shown where to park.

The admission process was a pleasure. The gentleman who assisted us handled the admission professionally and kindly, wished me strength for the procedure, and clearly explained where we needed to go.

At the reception on the second floor, ward “B”, the service was of the highest quality. From the explanation of the Patient Rights to the final allocation of my bed, B15, every step was handled with professionalism and great care.

Dr Moodley, the anaesthetist, was friendly, highly professional, and took the time to address a concern I shared with her. The nursing staff were phenomenal – friendly, helpful, and always willing to assist. No request was too much for them.

Dr Ligthelm personally came to see me, listened with empathy and care, and reassured me completely. I truly appreciate his decency and professionalism.

The theatre staff who came to collect me were friendly and professional. The entire pre-operative team was excellent, and Dr Moodley once again performed outstandingly during the anaesthesia. After the procedure, the recovery staff provided service of the highest standard – friendly and professional throughout.

My return to the second floor was smooth and positive. The nursing staff in the ward were once again fantastic. I mentioned that I would wait for my life partner to collect me after work, and this was immediately accepted positively. Even the cleaning staff and refreshment personnel were friendly and professional.

When my life partner arrived, the discharge process was completed smoothly and thoroughly. We collected the medication from the pharmacy, and everything was perfect.

For someone who last stayed in a hospital 20 years ago, and with all the negative publicity often heard, my expectations were exceeded. This experience reminded me that in South Africa there are still institutions that uphold values, standards, and put people first. Thank you to every staff member who made my stay unforgettable.

Even my life partner, who works at the Eye Institute Pretoria, spoke with praise about the level of professionalism at Urology Hospital – from the buildings, furniture, technology, and most importantly, your staff. Congratulations on having such an exceptional team.

I hope this message will be shared with the administration, nursing, and theatre staff, and of course with Drs Moodley and Ligthelm. Thank you for your valued service.

With appreciation,
