REQUIREMENTS
Responsible for leading the technical team in effectively and efficiently achieving the objectives of the department. Managing costs, the budget, and resources in line with but not limited to the following technical, clinical, and operational requirements:
Maintain equipment, building and services
- Control and maintain master document folders for equipment, and update it to latest standard
- Maintenance procedures followed and compiled for equipment not covered by urology planned maintenance department
- Outstanding job requests managed and communicated
- Project management principles adhere to, and Urology projects supported with the required level of involvement
- In-house projects adhere to cost, time, and quality standards.
- Oversee and manage on-site contractors at the hospital
Managed costs
- Provision of cost effective, quality technical service.
- Accurate budget compiled.
- Ongoing communication with the CEO, Heads of Departments with regards to the status of the budget.
- Ascertaining life cycle costs of equipment.
- Cost control within the framework of Urology Hospital and technical department policies, procedures, specifications, and guidelines.
Upgrading, improvement and alterations of the facility and installed equipment
- Meet requirements, specifications and time frame as agreed to by Technical Department and client.
- Comply with statutory requirements, regulations, and codes of practice.
- Ensure quality management and continues improvement within the department
Manage technical risks
- Implementation and adherence to statutory requirements, regulations, and codes of practice.
- Implementation and adherence to Urology hospital, technical department and Hospital specific policies, procedures, specifications, and guidelines.
- Technical staff properly trained and competent to execute assigned work.
Technical competence
- Lead and manage all technical employees and ensure ongoing evaluation of technical competence.
- Mentorship system implemented.
- Awareness and access to technical and industry information.
- Ongoing development of technical competencies.
Qualifications and experience
- Relevant Engineering qualification (Mechanical Engineering or similar-NQF 7), with proven experience in a hospital environment.
- Hands on experience in all areas of Technical-Facilities management, this includes clinical and non-clinical areas (at least 5 years hospital experience).
- Good accuracy and attention to detail skills to maintain high standards in work output.
- Good planning and organising skills and the ability to handle several activities at the same time.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities
- Demonstrate a sense of urgency
- Ability to communicate on all levels (doctors, management, and employees)
- Maintains a customer-focused mindset that acknowledges the value of the customer.
- Proven experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
- Adhere to all health and safety requirements as per the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Ability to work overtime, after hours and on weekends when required and provide technical support to the hospital.
