Registered Nurse Urodynamics

REGISTERED NURSE URODYNAMICS

This position reports to the Unit Manager and will be responsible for the following performance areas:

 

 KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

 

  1. Safe Patient Care
  • Patient Care is rendered according to the Scientific Nursing Process.
  • A safe and therapeutic environment is created for patients and theatre personnel.
  • Patient Rights and Statutory requirements are adhered to.
  • Mutually beneficial relationships are built and maintained with colleagues and the multi-disciplinary team.
  • The Urology Hospital standards (policies and procedures) are adhered to
  • Work is delegated according to the relevant scope of practice.
  • Learners and new employees are supported to ensure safe practice.
  • Competence is demonstrated in all performance output areas.
  • Continuous improvement projects are implemented and maintained.
  1. Patient records
  • Records meet legal requirements and are done according to the Urology Hospital standards (policies and procedures).
  • Record audits are done according to the Urology Hospital policy.
  • Medication and surgical stock are accurately and timeously recorded/charged.
  • Relevant records, schedules and registers are completed accurately.

 

  1. Stock and Equipment control
  • Ward stocks are ordered, received stored and utilized according to Urology Hospital policy.
  • Movement and stock/equipment is done according to Urology Hospital policy.
  • Life support equipment and stock are utilized according to Urology Hospital policy.
  • Medication and Surgical stock are accurately and timeously recorded
  1. Continuous Professional Development                                (CPD).
  • CPD needs are identified and addressed.
  • Professional Development objectives are set on an annual basis.
  • Portfolio of CPD- activities are maintained
  • In-service training opportunities are utilized.
  1. Client satisfaction
  • Professional ethics, Urology Hospital values, and caring standards are demonstrated in behaviour.
  • Service culture due to excellence is integrated and demonstrated in daily activities.
  • Continuous patient education and feedback is provided.

REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Relevant nursing qualification (Diploma in General Nursing/B Cur Degree) or equivalent NQF7 qualification
  • Relevant post-registration qualification
  • Registered with SANC
  • Evidence of substantial CPD in management and other clinically related and relevant subjects
  • Previous experience as a Registered Nurse
