REGISTERED NURSE: DAY WARD
This position reports to the Unit Manager and will be responsible for the following performance areas:
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Safe Patient Care:
· Total Patient Care is applied to the Scientific Nursing Process. · Patient Rights and Statutory requirements are adhered to. · Medico-Legal risks are controlled. · Relationships are built and maintained with colleagues and the multi-disciplinary team. · The Urology Hospital standards (policies and procedures) are adhered to. · Practice active patient care according to the Scope of Practice and assumes total responsibility for these activities. · Learners and new employees are supported to ensure safe practice. · Competence is demonstrated in all performance output areas. · Continuous improvement projects are implemented and maintained.
Patient Records: · Record keeping is done according to the Urology Hospital standards (policies and procedures). · Clinical information (co-morbidities and complications) is accurately recorded. · Medication and Surgical stock are accurately and timeously recorded/charged. · Record audits are done with a Registered Nurse, according to the policies of the Urology Hospital.

Stock and Equipment Control:
· Medication and stock items are ordered, received, stored and utilised according to Hospital policies. · Movement of stock/equipment is done according to The Urology Hospital Policy. · Life support equipment and stock are utilised according to The Urology Hospital Policy. · Nursing Unit equipment is utilised according to procedures.
Continuous Professional Development (CPD): · CPD needs are identified and addressed. · Professional development objectives are set on an annual basis. · Portfolio of CPD- activities are maintained. · In-service training opportunities are utilized.
Client Satisfaction: · Client expectations are identified, met and maintained. · Professional ethics, The Urology Hospital mission core values, and standards are demonstrated in behaviour. · Continuous patient education and feedback is provided. · Meetings are utilised as quality improvement opportunities. · Behaviour exhibits outstanding due to excellent service.

REQUIREMENTS
- Relevant nursing qualification (Diploma in General Nursing/B Cur Degree) or equivalent NQF7 qualification.
- Relevant post-registration qualification.
- Registered with SANC.
- Previous experience as a Registered Nurse.
