KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Accounting and financial control
- Daily Accounting (transacting) on Pastel.
- Transaction processing on Pastel from Trimed (or alternative subsystem) as required, mainly sales, purchases, and inventory.
- Correct interface with supporting IT systems i.e. Trimed (or alternative subsystem).
- Check daily cash balances; discuss with the Senior Accountant.
- Annual Budgets: Assist the Senior Accountant during the annual budget process and ensure the approved budget is captured on Pastel.
- Timely and accurate monthly reconciled Trial Balance to be utilised for monthly Management Accounts.
- Annual Audit: Ensure that auditors receive all required information as requested/required.
- Maintain the Pastel Creditors system (incl credit applications and – terms, creditors’ statement reconciliations) for regular and controlled payments to suppliers utilised repeatedly or on a regular basis.
- Maintain the Pastel / Trimed Inventory system with the Senior Accountant and Pharmacy personnel as applicable.
- Maintain the Pastel Debtor system, ensuring all outstanding debtors accounts are settled on time.
- Maintain a Fixed Asset register (as applicable).
- Maintain a Pastel Cash book(s) system.
- Ensuring payments are done based on approved orders, invoicing, and Proof of Delivery/contracts.
- Internet banking system: Operation of the Nedbank (and/or other banks utilised from time to time) internet banking system incl correct beneficiaries’ details, approvals system, all bank transactions, etc.
Financial Control
- Risks should be identified, and controls implemented together with the Senior Accountant to ensure safekeeping of assets and accurate financial recordkeeping and reporting.
- Controlling of all General Ledger accounts.
- Ensuring that all monthly Payments are done timeously, utilizing settlement discounts on offer.
- Controlling of inter-company loan accounts.
- Verifying GL and TB monthly.
Asset Management
- An asset register is maintained and updated continuously.
- Controlling of Bank loans for assets.
- Capital purchasing is conducted according to CAPEX budgets, policies, and procedures.
Inventory Management
- With the Senior Accountant and Pharmacy personnel, ensure that the Pharmacy inventory system operates correctly and that inventory is managed as required, with specific reference to the costing of inventory items.
Client Satisfaction
- Client expectations are met, and quality client service principles are maintained.
- Professional ethics and Urolocare Principles are demonstrated in behavior.
- Competence is demonstrated in all performance output areas.
- Best practices are shared to the benefit of the whole Hospital.
Audit
- All documentation is kept according to Audit standards and requirements.
REQUIREMENTS
- Gr 12 with Accountancy and Mathematics.
- A relevant Diploma (Accounting) will be beneficial.
- 2 Years of previous experience in a similar position.
- Working knowledge of Accounting ERP system.
- Computer skills with proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word).
- Attention to detail.
- Deadline driven.
- An ability to work under pressure.
- Sound interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to work overtime from time to time and to go the extra mile.
