This position reports to the Unit Manager and will be responsible for the following performance areas:
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
- Safe Patient Care:
- Ensure Total Patient Care is applied according to the Scientific Nursing Process.
- Ensure Patient Rights and Statutory requirements are adhered to.
- Medico-Legal risks are prevented and managed.
- Build and maintain Mutually beneficial relationships with colleagues and the multi-disciplinary team.
- Practices active Patient care according to Scope of Practice and assumes total responsibility for these activities.
- Adhere to Urology Hospital standards (policies and procedures).
- Support is provided to learners and new employees to ensure safe practice.
- Demonstrate competence in all performance output areas.
- Stock and Equipment Control:
- Ensure medication and nursing unit stock are received, stored, and utilised according to Urology Hospital Policy.
- Movement of stock/equipment is done according to Urology Hospital policy.
- Ensure Life support equipment and stock are utilised according to Urology Hospital.
- Nursing Unit equipment is utilised according to procedures.
- Continuous Professional Development (CPD):
- Identify and address Continuous Professional Development (CPD) needs.
- Ensure Professional development objectives are set on an annual basis.
- Maintain Portfolio of CPD- activities.
- In-service training opportunities are utilized.
- Patient Records:
- Ensure record keeping is done according to Urology Hospital standards (policies and procedures).
- Ensure all records comply with legal requirements.
- Ensure all Clinical information (comorbidities and complications) are accurately recorded.
- Medication and Surgical stock are accurately and timeously recorded
- Record audits are done with a Registered Nurse, according to Urology Hospital.
- Client Satisfaction:
- Ensure client expectations and basic needs are met.
- Follow professional ethics, Urology Hospital values, and caring standards are demonstrated in behaviour.
- Maintain quality client service principles.
- Behaviour exhibits excellent service.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Relevant nursing qualification.
- Registered with SANC.
- Evidence of substantial CPD in clinically related and relevant subjects.
- Previous experience as an Enrolled Nurse.
