ADMISSIONS CLERK

This position reports to the Patient Administration Manager and will be responsible for the following performance areas:

 

 

1.Continuous Performance and Quality Management           

  • Ensure that the Hospital Core values are reflected in Reception staff behaviour
  • Always be aware of the quality management and improvement programs and be competent to participate in quality improvement
  • Meetings are utilised as quality improvement opportunities
  • Standards/Policies/Procedures are met and maintained
  • All relevant statutory requirements are adhered to
  • Best operating practices are shared to the benefit of the hospital
  • A culture of Service Excellence is implemented and enhanced throughout the department and hospital

 

2.Deliver uncompromising quality to customers      

  • Comply and adhere to pre-admission, admission, banking and switchboard policies
  • Maintain and achieve quality patient satisfaction
  • Report all patient admission incidents and implement the corrective actions
  • Report customer complaints and implement the corrective actions
  • Ensure complete and effective response to complaints and feedback within 12 hours of receipt
  • Ensure service provider satisfaction
  • Ensure complete and effective feedback to all changes effecting service providers e.g. doctors,

radiology where changes from medical aids or hospital will affect them

  • Ensure 100% compliance to:
  1. Pre-admission
  2. Admission
  3. Staggering of patient admissions
  4. Fast track admissions
  5. Emergency admissions
  6. Banking/cash management

 

3.Developing a growth agenda         

  • Data integrity and reliability
  • Cash flow and profit optimization
  • Banking done daily

 

4.Leadership and performance

  • Actively participate in Reception Management and demonstrate visible participation in teamwork
  • Visible advocate the Vision and Mission of the Hospital
  • Actively sponsor Top management initiatives and projects as it relates to Reception and the hospital
  • Ensure that insight into Reception and supporting department’s functions are understood
  • Ensure that Reception is always covered to the best advantage for the hospital and that client satisfaction is optimised
  • Always ensure that CPA (Consumer Protection Act) and the right of the patient to confidentiality are met

REQUIREMENTS

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Reception administration experience, preferably in a private healthcare facility
  • Computer literate (Microsoft Office)
  • Knowledge of ICD and CPT codes
  • Medical AID Schemes and Private healthcare environment exposure
  • Good understanding of COIDA (Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act) processed, procedures and policies
  • Able to identify possible financial risks
